“This isn’t your typical love story…” opens the trailer for a movie about a white, heterosexual, cisgender, able-bodied, middle class, and likely loosely Christian couple who find each other through serendipity and a very small amount of actual work.

"Basically, there’s a hell of a lot of potential nuance to the way one person feels about another person, even when you take sex and/or romance off the table. And that’s one thing Moffat and Gattiss did brilliantly. They gave us a celibate asexual virgin man who is probably aromantic and they put him in a primary platonic relationship with a heterosexual man who clearly likes to date women but has already made up his mind about where his priorities lie. And then they threw in a lesbian dominatrix who may or may not feel sexually and/or romantically attracted to asexual!Sherlock despite the fact that he’s a man, without definitively telling us that her attraction to him is sexual or romantic. All they told us is that she’s attracted to him—but there are many forms of attraction. And finally, they made that asexual!aromantic!Sherlock care about her in some mysterious way, after becoming intrigued by her."outlawroad’s incredible Sherlock+Irene analysis (x)

"I mean, Jesus, who even gives a fuck about sex?! People act like it’s the most important thing humans do, but come on. How can our sentient fucking lives revolve around something slugs can do. I mean, who you want to screw and whether you screw them? Those are important questions, I guess. But they’re not that important. You know what’s important? Who would you die for? Who do you wake up at five forty-five in the morning for even though you don’t even know why he needs you?"John Green, Will Grayson, Will Grayson (via theytookmyluna)

"I wanted so badly to lie down next to her on the couch, to wrap my arms around her and sleep. Not fuck, like in those movies. Not even have sex. Just sleep together in the most innocent sense of the phrase. But I lacked the courage and she had a boyfriend and I was gawky and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was hurricane."John Green (Looking for Alaska)

"Her problem, she thought, was greater, deeper, than straightforward physical disgust; her whole being was in revolt against a prospect of entanglement and flesh; her composure and essential happiness were about to be violated."On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan (Centered around an asexual character… Definitely recommended!!) "In my dream, her head was on my shoulder as I lay on my back, only the corner of carpet between us and the concrete floors. Her arm was around my rib cage. We were just lying there, sleeping. God help me. The only teenaged guy in America who dreams of sleeping with girls, and just sleeping with them."Quentin Jacobsen, Paper Towns by John Green. Submitted by anshky. (via asexyquotes)
